Which additional SNES ROMs would run on Nintendo's official SNES Emulator? As I said, I never stopped playing retro games so I don't play them for nostalgic reasons but rather because they're fun to me, I play all sorts of stuff not just the popular classics. How does the SNES Classic compare as a purely emulation device for C64, Atari systems, TurboGrafx16, NES, SMS, SNES and MD/Genesis to the devices I emulation devices I already own, a modded original XBox and Wii. This is just some background info I felt would help give you guys a clearer picture of whether or not the system might be for me. Tho even emulation I much prefer on my CRT through my modded original Xbox or Wii. I use both emulation and actual hardware for my retro gaming, I like playing retro games on my CRT but when I do play on HD TVs/Monitors I like using Retroarch's excellent CRT Filters. I didn't plan on buying a SNES Classic initially but a friend of a friend had one sent to him from the US and after playing the system and comparing games side by side with actual hardware I came out very very satisfied and started considering getting one for myself maybe.
There is a guy selling a SNES Classic here but he sells it for 200 euros which is half of what most people make in a month, there has been a massive influx of greedy uneducated people trying to cash in on retro games that simply don't sell here in the past 2 years, but that's a whole different topic. I do have a massive collection of high quality original SNES games, I play both my US and PAL SNES as well as all my other retro systems a lot, I never really stopped playing retro games. If someone else wants to do one though feel free.I live in Europe, in Macedonia where the system is impossible to find. I don't care for fighting games so I likely won't do one. I will post rom names later.Īs for fighting. Once again this is a rough best of and I haven't tested yet. Once I get them confirmed as which versions on what emulator are working I'll post them.įor now this is the list and the emulator on which I suspect is the best for each game. I will be working on verifying these and providing actual working ROM names in the future. If there is any interest I also have a list of Run And Gun and Beat 'Em Ups as well.
This is to help us Retropie users to create lists of ROMs that actually work and find the best games in the genre and weed out the garbage. The reason I have posted this is because while there are great best of shmups lists out there as well as sorting tools, they aren't geared towards the Rpi3 and in most cases include roms that do not work on our system or don't indicate what version of emulator that they are intended for. Gokujyou Parodius gokuparo.zip + konamigx.zip Tengai / Sengoku Blade: Sengoku Ace Episode II tengai.zipĪir Buster - Trouble Specialty Raid Unit airbustr.zip When I get some time and figure out where to upload it, I can provide the wheel art and video snap for these games if requested.ĭoDonPachi Dai-Ou-Jou Black Label ddpdojblk.zip Getting artwork (video snap and wheel) is a little more difficult but it's all out there.
zip should make it easy for you to create a batch file to sort these. The fact that I have provided the actual rom names with.
I also realize that other systems have some great shmups but this list was only intended to sort out and identify working arcade based roms.įeel free to use it if you want. I have NOT included NeoGeo games as I have a separate wheel for that. This list has NOT been tested on an RPI2 but I can tell you right now, not all of these will work. When I say working I mean they launch and appear to play okay as far as I can tell.
The roms span lr-fba (0.2.97.39), lr-mame2003 (Mame 0.78) and lr-mame2010 (.139) and are using non-merged sets meaning no parent roms are required I've put together a rough best of list of working ARCADE Shmups games on the RPI3.
